CentOS 6.3: Using WGET through a proxy server

To use wget through a proxy server, add the following lines to ‘<em>/etc/wgetrc</em>’ <pre>http_proxy = http://proxyserver:8080/ ftp_proxy = http://proxyserver:8080/</pre> Where proxyserver is the name/IP address of the proxy server and 8080 is the proxy port. If the server requires authentication modify the lines to read: <pre>http_proxy = http://username:password@proxyserver:8080/ ftp_proxy = http://username:password@proxyserver:8080/</pre>

CentOS 6.3: Using YUM through a proxy server

To use YUM through a proxy server edit the file “/etc/yum.conf” to include: proxy=http://proxyserver:8080/ Where ‘proxyserver’ is the proxy server and ‘8080’ is the port used to connect to the proxy server. If the proxy server requires authentication, credentials can be supplied. proxy=http://username:password@proxyserver:8080
