Installing & Creating Jackett Service in Ubuntu

Installing Jackett

Install libcurl and bzip for opening the Jackett compiled binary, mono-devel is required for some private trackers.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libcurl4-openssl-dev bzip2 mono-devel -y

Download the latest release of Jackett (the Jackett.Binaries.Mono.tar.gz file)

Unpack the Jackett release (adjust the filename if you downloaded a newer version)

tar -xvf Jackett*

Create the Jackett installation folder

sudo mkdir /opt/jackett

Move the unzipped Jackett installation

sudo mv Jackett/* /opt/jackett

Start Jackett

mono /opt/jackett/JackettConsole.exe

Kill the Jackett process with Ctrl+C so we can start it automatically on boot using a systemd script

Creating Jackett Service

Download the file jackett.txt, rename it to jackett.service and copy it to /etc/systemd/system/

change user to your user if required

Setup Jackett to run at start up

sudo systemctl enable jackett.service

Starting/Stopping Jackett (and checking status)

sudo systemctl start sonarr.service
sudo systemctl stop jackett.service
sudo systemctl status jackett.service
